Speculation about a production version for the Lexus LF-LC prototype shown at the 2012 NAIAS has been growing recently, but this photo confirms Lexus are cooking up something.
So far, we know Lexus trademarked the 'LC' nameplate, in LC 500 and LC 500h derivatives. Also, a recent report talks about the fact that Lexus confirmed production plans for the LC coupé.
These two pieces of information do add up, but now we have a picture telling the rest of the story. Well, at least some of it, because as you'll see, the test mule is heavily camouflaged.
The picture showed up on Matt Farah's Instagram account and according to its caption, the alleged Lexus pre-production prototype was spotted in the canyons in the company of a Lexus LS, BMW 650i and Porsche 911.
It is worth mentioning that it's hard to confirm the heavy-camoed prototype is indeed a Lexus, although features like the rear exhaust and rear window shape might suggest that.
Also, if we look at the LF-LC concept and compare its body shape with this test mule's profile, a lot of similarities emerge, like the long hood and the sloping rear end.
In other LF-LC related news, Automobile Mag reported some weeks ago that the 2017 Lexus LF-LC could Pack 600+ HP in a sportier 'F' version. Of course, that was pure speculation just as the rumor that a potential series LF-LC would be an alternative to the 500-unit limited Lexus LFA supercar.
We'll need to let time clear the air on this matter, but keep in mind Lexus officials said the car will be more "regular" and less "carbon fiber embroidered."
