Land Rover is working to complete the development of the third-generation Freelander (LR2 in the US), with the prototype being spied in the UK for the first time.
The Freelander, which is scheduled to debut in 2015, will have a twisted relationship with the Range Rover Evoque. Yes, the Freelander will borrow the latter’s platform, but it will also have to put up with the Evoque’s charming presence.
The two will be similar in size, but while the Evoque represents the premium alternative, the Freelander will come with a more reasonable approach. Nevertheless, the vehicle will adopt Land Rover’s new design language, the one we’ve seen on the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
Expect the Freelander to grow in size, while its cabin will also be redefined - despite the differentiation to the Evoque, the interior will still see a massive leap in quality compared to the current one.
