After the last wave of crazy rumors about the sportscar BMW and Toyota are preparing, new details that sound a bit more plausible have surfaced recently, aligning somehow with both automaker’s styles and needs.
First thing first, you should know that the finished design for what’s known to be the future Toyota Supra hasn’t been finished yet, thing that also applies to BMW’s Z4 future replacement. So you’ll basically have to stare at this rendering done by Japanese Holiday Magazine.

Now, according to Motoring’s insiders, the two sportscars are expected to arrive within the next three years, with BMW doing most of the undercarriage work for them, while Toyota will provide its fuel cell technology to the German manufacturer in return.

Regarding that undercarriage, the upcoming Toyota will benefit from a BMW powertrain, comprising a turbocharged 2-liter inline-four, but it will be modified to be a hybrid.

Remember the Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R? Well, the technology it's using is said to arrive in the next Supra. This means that an electric motor will be found attached to the gearbox while two others will each power a wheel, preferably at the front.

We can’t really tell if the three motors will be powered by normal batteries or super capacitors, but rumors are the car will be a plug-in hybrid.

If all the above will happen to the upcoming Supra, there is only one thing to compare it to - the Toyota TS030 Hybrid Le Mans racer. Which uses the same configuration and, if you look at this video bellow, is basically a hybrid monster.
