The 3rd generation Hyundai i30 is being launched in Korea, and we thought you guys might want to know about this feature. It's called Safety Unlock System, and it prevents people from stealing your stuff.
Smart key fobs are the Achilles heel of the car's armor. Press that unlock button and a kid crouched on the other side could swipe your laptop before you realized what happened.

So Hyundai has designed an alternative system. One press unlocks only the driver side door, which is the only one you need most of the time. This prevents unseen thieves from opening the opposite door.

Two presses of the fob open all the doors, allowing your family or friends to enter. If you live in a really safe place like, the system can also be deactivated from the i30's computer.

If the weird infotainment screen can be ignored, the i30 is a great car. Notice how the model in this video has auto folding mirrors and full-LED headlights? Those are big car features. The engine range closely mirrors that of the Renault Megane and VW Golf, right down to the use of a twin-clutch auto gearbox.

We also chose to include a 32-minute long review in the video section below. The Korean makes it hard to follow, but the fact that this 1.4 turbo model has independent rear suspension and a gigantic panoramic roof is impressive. You don't get that on most Skoda Octavia or even Ford Focus models.

A few days ago, Hyundai Motor started production of the all-new i30 hatchback at their Nosovice plant in the Czech Republic. Three petrol and three diesel engines will be available. The latter category includes a 1.4-liter with 100 PS, a 1.0-liter turbo with 120 PS and range-topping petrol version with the T-GDI with 140PS 1.4L turbo we just mentioned.

As for the diesel range, it's made up exclusively of the 1.6-liter variety of engine, available in 95, 110 and 136 PS configurations. Guess which one the Europeans are going to buy!
