BMW’s subsidiary Husqvarna decided to treat us with some early design sketches of its first ever street motorcycle, shortly after it has announced the modified BMW 900cc parallel twin-cylinder engine developed particularly for this two-wheeled machine.

As you can see in the adjacent images, which we suspect are pretty close to the finished variant, we are looking at a supermoto-flavored streetfighter machine. Take for example that red-black-white paint scheme, the streamlined tail and that small tank the sketches reveal.

The 900cc unit this bike will come fitted with is claimed to produce 95 horsepower and 95 Nm (70 lb.ft.) of torque with a claimed power delivery that's both linear and smooth at low rpm, but robust at high rpm.

Though you might think the bike is too angular in design, this new Husqvarna could pose a serious threat to some naked and big bore supermoto bikes from manufacturers such as Yamaha, KTM, Ducati and Aprilia.

“The strong shapes of the body are a consistent evolution of the new style and design direction introduced by the Varese-based company, and are testimony of the manufacturer’s ability to innovate," reads the statement from Husqvarna. “The architecture of the vehicle is brand new, above and beyond any layout available on the market. The characteristic shape of the side panels, the tension in the vibrant surfaces, the sculpted volumes define an athletic body. Dynamism, agility and lightness are balanced harmoniously. The functional air intakes integrated into the front of the body and the thin tail highlight the unique design of this new model,” the company further adds.

Though technical details are also sketchy at this point, we expect to see the bike in the flesh at the forthcoming EICMA show in Milan this November. However, until then we hope to find out more about Husqvarna’s first ever road-going motorcycle, including the name it will be given.
