I don't remember all the model year interior changes for the Golf. However, it's pretty safe to say that 2017 marks the biggest upgrade ever seen. VW's plans have been discussed, leaked and now revealed by a pre-production concept, the e-Golf Touch.
While the Renault Zoe received a new battery with 400 kilometers of range, the e-Golf is also receiving a range boost from 190 to 300 kilometers (according to the European NEDC cycle). For most people, that should be enough. Also, the power has gone up from 115 to 135 horsepower. Can you really ask more from an electric hatchback?

Compared to the I.D. electric car, this is a more down-to-earth concept. Though for the hundreds of thousands of people who will buy a Golf next year, this is crucial stuff.

First things first, we have to mention that none of what you see here is going to be standard. Even on the Passat, the digital dashboard is an optional feature, though we're confident that everyone will have one in a couple of decades.

The digital dash was first seen on the Audi TT about three years ago. Volkswagen uses different graphics and features, but the screen size is the same: 12.3 inches. We've learned that the Golf facelift will be shown at the LA Auto Show, but it could arrive in the states as late as the 2018 model year.

The new infotainment screen gets rid of some of the buttons we've come to take for granted, like the pointless radio tuner. Many manufacturers have gotten rid of all the buttons, but in many situations, the car becomes fiddly and unusable, such as with the Peugeot 308.

But we're confident VW can pull it off, partly because they got a lot of money riding on this, but also because the current Golf interior is among the best in its class.

Of course, there will also be exterior updates, which have been leaked in August. We think it's safe to say the Golf will remain a popular car.
