I don’t think you’re ready for this, but the brand new Ford Fusion for the European market has been revealed today, and it’s exactly the same as the 2013 Fusion shown in Detroit. Surprise, surprise! But the move was largely expected under the new “One Ford” global directive.
The only noticeable difference between the Mondeo and Fusion is that the Euro car has different turn signal indicators (though the photos actually show a pre-production Mondeo) and the plastic strip going between the exhaust tips, which is painted in the same color as the body.
On the engine front, both the 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter EcoBoost units will be offered, though diesels are what the European businessmen need. The bad news is that the new Mondeo will only arrive in Europe in about a year’s time. We think the hybrid version is not needed, but the plug-in hybrid looks to be very interesting on paper.
