New Ford Everest Debut Slated for the 13th of November

Thanks to a recent teaser video uploaded on YouTube by the Ford Asia Pacific channel, we now know the seven-seater crossover sport utility vehicle will make its debut on November 13th in Beijing.

Just as we anticipated from the Aussie-penned Everest Concept revealed back in August, 2013, the production-ready Everest is the family-oriented brother of the Ranger pickup truck with a little bit of poshness added to the mix. To boot, the oily bits were engineered in Australia as well, by the same R&D team that made the Aussie-spec Ranger happen.

Because Ford is being coy on specific details, due to the fact Ford Australia will stop making cars and engines in a few years’ time and the Chinese launch, we have a hunch the 2015 Ford Everest is going to be manufactured in China or in Thailand, on the same production line that makes the Ranger.

Apparently, the all-new model has been in the making for the better part of five long years

If you’re wondering what the 2015 Ford Everest will hide under its bonnet, be our guest at having a wild stab in the dark. We only know the rear will be taken care of a Watts-link coil-spring suspension for better comfort than platform brother Ranger, but the powertrain options are still a mystery right now.

We do expect the Blue Oval to offer it with reworked variants of the 2.2-liter and 3.2-liter turbo diesels of the outgoing Ranger, mated to either a six-speed stick shift or a six-speed automatic transmission.
