One of the biggest questions surrounding the new M3 and M4 and their inline 6-cylinder turbocharged engines is how the exhaust will sound like.
It’s hard to fill the shoes of the masterful S65 V8 engine fitted on the old E92 M3 but if there’s a company that can do that, it’s BMW and the M division.
Those people that are expecting the new sound to be close to the V8 should get a reality check. That’s impossible for more than obvious reasons. However, that doesn’t mean that the new cars can’t sound good.
We heard the M3 roaring a while back, thanks to an XCAR video and today we get to listen to the M4. Despite having a terrible echo in the background, the clips posted below are still relevant, allowing you to imagine how the two will sound like in real life, not in a closed garage as they are filmed here.
What do you think? Will the new M3 and M4 sound like proper M cars?
