New Ducati Scrambler Concepts Flow in from Gannet Design

A hipster’s bike of choice or not, one thing is certain: the new Ducati Scrambler is a bike with excellent potential, both in the commercial and custom directions. After the Scrambler makes it in the dealerships around the world, we can really expect to see a lot of workshops getting busy hacking and sawing to deliver stunning bikes in a variety of shapes and colors.

If you have one planned and are on the waiting list, here’s some interesting new takes on the Scrambler, three ideas arriving via Gannet Design’s Ulfert Janssen. If you believe you have to change the looks of your Scrambler, you can decide to walk a different path, if a conservatory one, or just let the modern times flow into the build.

Rust looks good at times

Normally, rust is one of the things we don’t want to see on our bikes, but in some cases, artificially- created rust or exquisite rust-like paint is THE thing. Janssen’s first ne proposal is a bike which blends in the conservative, retro-inspired flat seat base pan, even though high-tech carbon fiber accents are inserted into the project.

From fenders to heat shields and side panels, carbon fiber matches the dark attire of this Scrambler, while the evil slash-cur low pipes add a most welcome dose of aggressiveness to the build. Some may criticize the front fender for being a tad too motocross-ish, but in the end it’s all about choices.

A trellis exoskeleton?

Feel like going a bit crazy? How about you rode a Ducati Scrambler with a trellis frame extending over the tank as an exoskeleton, then? Surely, this has nothing to do with any conservative idea, but you know, that’s how creativity works…

Certain fellows will object on the overkill nature of the trellis abuse, but if one plans to hit the dirt like a boss, he or she cannot just eliminate the thought of several falls to the ground. This is where the exoskeleton might work as an uber-crashbar and spare you the troubles of a punctured tank. Plus, the massive bash plate under the engine adds even more terrainability, while the red accents are simply killer.

Modern classic looks

The third proposal introduces a custom-made frame which strays from the trellis heritage but which keeps the overall attire of the bike within the classic limits. Of course the MX carbon fiber front fender might look a bit too modern, nit it matches well with the rest of the shields and covers and the rear subframe which integrated the fender and the seat. Add in a red livery and racing stripes and you’re good to go.

Surely, these are only manipulations, but real ideas could spring from such creations, and this is exactly why we’re bringing them to you in the first place.
