Here's one rumor that we really wish becomes reality: the next-generation Dodge Viper, which is expected to arrive in late 2012 as a 2013 model will be powered by a 8.7-liter evolution of the replaced generation's 8.4-liter V10 unit, as Allpar writes.
An 8.7-liter engine (531 cu. in., to speak in muscle car language) would be the largest ever in Chrysler's history, proving many things, such as the fact that the financial-crisis muscle cars are bolder than the 70s' ones.
We don't have any details on the engine's output, but since the 2010 Viper offers 600 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque, we've got something really sweet coming. If the rumor turns out to be true (Allpar doesn't offer any source for the info), it means that in an era when everybody is turning to forced induction, the Viper will stay true to the "no replacement for displacement" motto.
And don't think that we're talking about a high muscle-low IQ development here - we're reminding you that the Viper currently holds the Nurburgring record for mainstream automaker supercars.
