New Diavel and CLS 63 AMG Mark Ducati - Mercedes Partnership

What happens when Italian style meets German precision... on American venue? Probably one of the most attractive displays at the LA Auto Show these days is the Ducati - Mercedes stand, which celebrates the Diavel’s North American debut and the CLS 63 AMG world debut.

Furthermore, courtesy to the Los Angeles Times, we also found out that Italian sportbike manufacturer and the German performance automaker inked a marketing deal yesterday, which will help the two companies proceed to a common goal, that of promoting speed, handling and style.

The head of AMG, Ola Kallanius officially confirmed the new partnership deal which will see AMG as an official sponsor for the Ducati MotoGP race team in 2011.

Nicky Hayden, one of the team’s riders also attended the event, showing himself to be delighted with the idea to have the Diavel as company bike and the CLS 63 AMG as his company car.

This means Hayden will not only profit from the 2011 Ducati Diavel’s 1198 cc Testrastretta L-twin that develops 162 horsepower and 94 lb.ft. (127 Nm) of torque and runs in three modes, but he will also enjoy the CLS 63 AMG’s 5.5 liter V8 engine that outputs 518 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm).

Coming as blend between a naked street bike (as it is light and agile), a cruiser (imposing and comfortable) and a sports bike (powerful, offering a high level of performance), the $16,999 Diavel will be arriving at nationwide dealers in February 2011. On sale availability and pricing details for the new CLS 63 AMG are yet to be disclosed.
