While Waze is one of the top navigation apps out there, it’s also one of those that have somehow ended up doing more harm than good on iPhones and Android devices lately.
Today we’re highlighting another audio problem that seems to be caused by the same Google-owned app.
Waze for iPhone is the one being blamed for another problem: the playing music on an iPhone stops every time the navigation app offers guidance through the phone speakers.
In other words, whenever Waze takes over the audio to provide navigation guidance, it ends up interrupting the playback, as it somehow forgets to resume the music.
For the time being, however, we’re seeing only isolated reports in this regard, and one user explains on reddit that after a thorough look at what happens, Waze is the only thing that can be responsible for the blunder.
“A few days ago I made the grave error and decided to update the version of Waze that I have. I updated no other apps. I did not update iOS. Now, whenever Waze plays a sound effect or says directions, the music stops entirely. It never starts again without manual intervention,” one of the users seeing the bug explains.
At this point, a workaround doesn’t seem to exist, but as said, this seems to affect just a limited number of devices.
This is the latest in a series of bugs that Waze has experienced lately. Earlier this year, the Google-owned app introduced an issue on CarPlay that broke down the audio in the car, not just in the app. The issue was fixed by the Waze team with another update.
Since then, however, users have reported a series of other problems with Waze, and by the looks of things, more updates would be required to also improve the reliability of essential features, including the warnings that it displays to drivers when approaching the location of user-submitted reports.
