Citroen is about to put everything on the line at the Paris Motor Show. The brand's future depends on the success of new models like the Cactus and turning DS into an independent brand. However, the French were able to find time for some big budget charity work. Say hello to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge… with cars.
This next video, shot in glossy HD, shows the DS3 facelift undergoing the cold treatment for a good cause. Afterwards, our favorite DS model challenges three market rivals - the Audi A1, MINI Cooper and Mercedes A-Class - to do the same and support the cause.
Everybody knows that you have to be nominated to do the challenge and we thing Citroen's came from Vauxhall. The Brits have been very active on social media the past year and on August 20th, two employees of their press office did the Ice Bucket Challenge on an Adam (you can watch that video below), calling for Mini, Fiat 500 and Citroen DS3 to follow the example.
So far this year, almost £7 million ($11.5M or €8.8M) have been raised in Britain alone through the Ice Bucket charity challenge, said the Motor Neurone Disease Association in a recent statement. The now famous IBC involves people upending buckets of ice cold water over themselves to show support for the ALS, a type of progressive neuro-degenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.
Our take: Maybe donating all the money needed to make a viral video would have been the way to go, Citroen.
