The current generation Chrysler 300C was released last year, but despite the car being a considerably better package than its predecessor and having clever marketing campaign to back it up, it wasn’t the hit that the manufacturer intended it to be.
After launching the car in Europe as the Lancia Thema, Chrysler has gone further East, and the car was recently launched on the Chinese market. As one might expect, in the PRC the car is considerably more expensive than in other markets, as it will set its future buyers back around $76,000 (486,900 yuan). Apparently, there’s only one version on sale, and instead of a fuel-sipping diesel, they’re only offering it with a 3.6-liter V6.
The reason for the high price is the fact that, unlike the old China-bound 300C, the new one is not made in China, by a now-defunct joint venture between Chrysler and a local manufacturer. At such a high price, sales will definitely not be record-breaking (well, they may be, but in a negative way).
