The official importer for Chevrolet cars into Malaysia, Naza Quest, has officially launched launched the second generation Sonic onto the local market. The subcompact, or supermini as it’s know in Europe, will be available both in five-door hatch and four-door sedan forms. The car is replacing the ill-fated Aveo model and will be available in only one trim level and with only one engine option.
Just like the European model, the Sonic is powered by a 1.4-liter petrol four-cylinder unit from the Ecotec range and fitted with variable valve timing. In Malaysia, it’s rated at 99 hp at 6,000rpm and 130 Nm at 4,000rpm.

Mated only to a six-speed automatic, it pushes the Sonic from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 175 km/h. Both the sedan and hatch are sold only in the LTZ trim level, which means standard 16-inch wheels, ABS, EBD, a well equipped interior and Chevrolet’s 5-year or 200,000 km warranty.

Prices stat at RM76,888 (€19,200) for the sedan and RM78,888 (€19,715) for the hatchback.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
