Marking the start of a new era for Cadillac, their brand new XTS luxury sedan has been launched in China. big event took place yesterday in Guangzhou, and much is expected of this car.
It will be offered to Chinese customers with a choice between a 2.0-liter turbo producing 269 hp which will be called XTS 28T (BMW infringement anyone?) and a 3.6-liter V6 offering 309 hp sold under the name "XTS 36S".

The 2-liter turbo takes the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds, while the V6 is only slightly faster at 7.5 seconds.

Cadillac plans to sell more than 100,000 vehicles in China by 2015 and capture 10 percent of China’s luxury vehicle segment by 2020. SUV are also on the menu, as Cadillac themselves admit, but this large sedan will play a crucial role for the American brand.

The XTS will soon enter production with Shanghai-GM. Prices will start at RMB349,900 for a base XTS 28T Comfort and can go all the way up to RMB569,900 for the only V6 model, the Platinum.

Body color changes include Dazzling Black, Dreamy White, Glistening Gold, Titanium Silver and Crystal Grey, while for the interior is either champagne and black.

“True to its pioneering and innovative spirit, Cadillac has created many milestone masterpieces during its 110 years,” said Shanghai GM President Ye Yongming at today’s launch ceremony. “The new XTS articulates the brand's persistence in innovation by combining dramatic styling with advanced technology, and subsequently displaying the unique personalities of its owners. In addition, the launch of the XTS reflects Shanghai GM’s effort to expand its presence in the Chinese luxury car segment. Our aim is to increase Cadillac sales to more than 100,000 units by 2015 and its share of the premium car segment to 10 percent by 2020.”
