While the third-generation BMW X6 has yet to be revealed, super-SUV fans can already dream of the all-new BMW X6 M. That's because prototypes are currently running wild on the Nurburgring.
In fact, you can zoom in on the testing action in the piece of spy footage at the bottom of the page, which also includes a prototype for an M model that has already been revealed, namely the M8 Convertible.

As is the case with the upcoming BMW X5 M, the sloping roof line model will be offered in two versions. I'm talking about the standard model, if such a word might be used, which should pack 600 ponies and the X6 M Competition, which is supposed to bring an extra 25 hp.

While the tech side of the high-riders is shared with that of the F90 M5, I wouldn't hold my breath for the RWD driving model of the M xDrive all-paw hardware to make it into SUV land.

Compared to the outgoing model, the new X6 will have a lower center of gravity, as well as sitting closer to the ground. And while this limits the already modest offroading abilities of the machine, it does help with talking corners at full speed. Once again, I'll mention the clip below, which allows us to check out the behemoth being thrown at the unforgiving corners that make up the infamous German track.

The latest rumors talk about the new BMW X6 making its debut next year, with this set to come to the US market as a 2021 model.

As for the competition, this is fiercer than ever. For instance, Porsche has just introduced the Cayenne Coupe, with the Turbo being a rival for the X6 M.

Then there's the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe, whose debut is just around the corner (here's some spy material portraying the Affalterbach SUV-Coupe).
