We finally have photographic evidence that Bigfoot really does exist. The long rumored new arrival from BMW’s motorcycle division has been unveiled. Yes, the famous S 1000 RR, or RR as its fans called it, has evolved into the lightest motorcycle in the supersports class that they Motorrad guts have ever built.
The new HP4 is the lightest 4-cylinder bike in the 1000cc class, weighing in at 199 kilograms with the tank 90% full (169 kg dry weight with Race ABS). The bike is also mighty powerful, with an engine that puts out 142 kW (193 hp) in a very linear fashion.
The new BMW HP4 will make its debut onto the market later this year, being a continuation of the HP or high performance line that started in 2005 with models like the HP2 Enduro, HP2 Megamoto and MP2 Sport. However, this is their very first four-cylinder entry, and a supersports bike on top of everything.
The bike is very technologically advanced, being offered with race ABS with IDM setting and dynamic traction control with five settings in “Slick” mode. It also has launch control.
