New BMW 1 Series M Coupe Test Driven by Lucky Fans

Weeks before the official presentation of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe, twelve lucky fans got the chance to test it and even glance at its true unmarked lines and proportions. All of them seemed thoroughly impressed with both the handling and the looks of the car, saying it is a true BMW road rocket.

Some weeks ago, BMW promised that you could "be the first to drive this car". Twelve people, chosen from over 4,000 ‘M’ fans all over the world, participated in the event that lasted 3 days at the Leipzig plant where the car will be built. After a test drive, that included stretches of highway driving, back roads and even an agility course, all the motorists were impressed by the purposeful chassis and pulling powerful of the engine.

For most of them, the M Coupe sounds like just a model created to fill a niche in the market. However, with the M3 and M5 becoming weighed down by heavy luxury equipment, the 1 Series M Coupe is probably the only 'M' car that stays true to the origin of the famous Bavarian badge.

Powered by BMW’s award winning 3.0-liter twin turbo six cylinder engine, the M should deliver 340 horsepower. We even like the sound of the new car, as the four exhaust tips are producing the classical six cylinder symphony that has been missing for 2 years from the ‘M’ range. The look of any new BMW takes some getting used to, but at least it doesn’t look like any other car out there.
