New AVIC-X In-Car Navigation from Pioneer

As it is a very competitive market, Pioneer focused more on the visual clarity and the ease-of use for drivers, and so two new in-car navigation series were launched to complete the AVIC-X Series. The AVIC-X710BT and AVIC-X910BT combine turn-by-turn navigation with audio and video entertainment.

Several connectivity options are also available, such as Apple iPod and iPhone, Bluetooth cell phones, MSN Direct, HD Radio and SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio.

“We’ve made numerous enhancements to the hardware and software for 2009, making the AVIC-X Series more functional and easier to use than its predecessors,” said Ted Cardenas, director of marketing for the mobile business group of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Both models build upon Pioneer’s in-car navigation experience, offering performance and features beyond those found on typical navigation systems.”

The new AVIC-X models feature a map database that covers United States, Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii, available in different view modes, including 3D, 2D North Up and 2D heading Up mode. For a better visual aid, simulated highway signs appear onscreen to prevent drivers, as well as 3D icons, including buildings, historical landmarks, baseball fields, etc.

Both models have a 5.8-inch WVGA touch panel display, and also allow playback of iTunes AAC, MP3, WMA, WAVE, DivX and MPEG4 files from a CD, DVD, USB device or SD memory card. To initiate the music playback or to access their phone-book, the users only have to say it, as conversational commands are enabled.

The AVIC-X navigation systems can be integrated in vehicles with 2-DIN dash opening, and are available in a wide range of colors to fit the look of your car. The Pioneer AVIC-X710BT and AVIC-X910BT are available for suggested prices of $900 and $1,100, respectively.
