Since Audi won't offer an RS8, it's up to the tuning industry to deliver amazing full-sized Audis with lots of power. This next project shows what ABT Sportsline can do to the S8 if you're brave enough to let them tune it.
A 4-liter twin-turbo V8 resides under the bonnet of every Audi S8, just like on the more powerful RS7. Making 520 hp and 650 Nm of torque, it's an impressive engine, though not one that you'd pit against the Mercedes S63 AMG and the BMW M6 Gran Coupe.

By playing with the ECU and fitting a new exhaust, ABT has found it can boost the output to 640 hp and 780Nm of torque. That's 120 hp and 130 Nm more than you'd get in stock form.

Always a discrete car, the S8 could no be aggressively tuned. ABT has thus decided to leave the grille and bumpers alone and instead offered only a set of their black 20-inch wheels with the turbine design. Lowered suspension and a set of sticky tires should marginally improve the handling of the S8 as well.

ABT won't say how these changes have improved the car in that all-important acceleration battle, but they do admit to lifting the top speed limiter to 280km/h (174mph).
