New Audi R8 LMS Racing Simulator Coming

Thanks to the four-ring brand we’ll have another toy to play with, once they take the wraps off their latest Audi R8 LMS racing simulator that will be unveiled at the Gamescom fair this Wednesday, August 17th. The presentation will be made by German racing driver Christopher Mies.

The Audi R8 LMS racing simulator was developed by Sony and Audi and has been custom-built by quattro GmbH. The company says it is designed to simulate the racetrack experience in games such as Gran Turismo 5 on the Sony PlayStation.

On the other hand, the company informs that Swiss racing driver Rahel Frey, who is competing in the DTM with Audi Sport Team Phoenix, will be getting a new helmet design for the season finale of the top touring car event. The helmet in question is the result of a design competition run by her personal sponsor, the drink brand Capri-Sonne.

The competition can be found on the company’s website and on its Facebook page, and the closing date for entries is September 11. The winner, who will be chosen by a jury that includes Capri-Sonne and Audi employees, will have the honor of personally presenting the helmet to Rahel and will also receive grandstand tickets for the DTM finale in Hockenheim.

Also, Audi announced its involvement in the Formula Student Germany competition, where it presented its own prize, the Audi Best Lightweight Concept Award, which went to the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

“Lightweight construction is very important to Audi in its motorsport endeavors: This technology played a part in the Audi R18 TDI winning in Le Mans,”
the company explains.
