New Audi R8 Has a "Huracan Button", Hits 185 MPH in Ignition Review

I don't care what you people say, the new Top Gear isn't bad at all. The latest bit about the Aston Martin Vulcan was just epic, far better than anything Clarkson made. You can thank Chris Harris and his drift skills for that one!

Anyway, all this Top Gear hating probably started with the scripted way in which the all-new Audi R8 was presented. Puking on the track because of how awesome a driver Sabine Schmitz is? Come on. For whatever reason, we wanted another take on the car, even though we've seen a lot of them.

How about an episode of Motor Trend's Ignition? Yeah, that sounds just perfect. Jonny Lieberman takes an up-close and personal look at the "sophomore supercar" and notices the interior is much better, and the front end is kind of bad. We all knew that already, but the bit that struck us is when he says that one of the buttons on the steering wheel turns the R8 into an Aventador.

You see, unlike the previous R8, this one has the exact same output as its V10 Lamborghini equivalent. This might also be the best supercar for basketball players. No, we aren't talking about the Iron Man connection. Audi made the R8 an inch longer between the wheels and three inches taller, so taller people might fit... just.

As far as we know, nobody has ever hit 185 miles per hour in the new R8 on a public road yet. Of course, it does help to have friends in the Highway Patrol to close said public road. But for a supercar with "only" 600 horsepower, that's pretty ludicrous.

MT is also the first publication to say that the R8 is dead in the corners. The famous Audi understeer is coming back to bite. However, we know from experience that its sister car, the Lamborghini Huracan, does the same thing.

The only logical conclusion is that both companies left the door intentionally wide open for track future versions to be developed.
