The Audi Q7 made its official debut way back in 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. That makes it almost eight years old, a very long time for any make and model to survive.
Back in it's glory days, the Q7 was considered very modern, being equiped with Audi's first "Side Assist" blind spot detection system. However, Vorsprung dutch Technik has moved on significantly since those days, and so must its mightiest SUV.
According to a report from Autonew Europe, a brand new Audi Q7 will make its doubt in summer next year. It will be built around a new platform to be shared with the next VW Touareg and will weigh about 800 lbs (362 kg) less than it currently does.
An insider source has revealed the Q7 will continue to be built in Bratislava, Slovakia, where it currently shares its home with some Porsche Cayenne models and the VW Touareg. A hybrid version is planned as well, likely to be similar to the electrified A8.
