Audi is about to change its design language for the better. We don't know for sure if this will influence the Q7, which is months away from making its debut, but we can tell that nothing will be the same in the land of quattro after the Los Angeles Auto Show. That's where the first preview model will be shown and that car is our subject of the day.
It's said to be a preview for the A9, a very large four-door coupe concept that's expected to serve as their new flagship. We can agree that the concept is very long, wide and has a four-door coupe. However, we're more inclined to see it as practice for the next A8, which is likely to debut in early 2016.

This next video shows Audi's new design boss Marc Lichte talk about his first major job after taking office. The passion for his design is sparked by some pretty famous quattro cars of old, including the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO race car, the classic A8 and the first-generation TT coupe, which Lichte is the essence of the brand.

We can definitely tell what he's talking about, since the wheel arches are huge, just like a race car's. However, the front end design is clearly pointing Audi's boat towards uncharted waters. There grille is absolutely massive and has a trapezoidal design that's squatted for a sporty loo. Headlights and air vents have also been re-though in such a way as to silence all of Ingolstadt's critics.

We'll know more in LA. But for now, check out this short and very interesting teaser video.
