New Audi A7 Commercial Released

The German manufacturer has released a new 60 second Audi A7 commercial, entitled “Imagination Meets Engineering”. The clip features a combination of stunning visual effects and one of Basement Jaxx’s most recent tracks, Dracula.

The video was shot with the Rorschach animation technique that uses symmetry and black and white color schemes, combined with an X-ray inspired rendering model for the mechanical components. The video starts off by showing an image of a human brain, symbolizing that the A7 started taking shape in the minds of its engineers. Everything, from the wheels and tires, to the chassis and engine seem to grow in an organic fashion.

The five-door coupe is 4.97 meters (16 feet 4 inches) long and 1.91 meters (6 feet and 3 inches) wide, but only 1.42 meters (4 feet and 7 inches) high. Its long hood, the short front overhang, the long wheelbase, the flowing C-pillars and the sharply dropping rear create a dynamic overall impression.

Audi will offer the Audi A7 Sportback with a choice of four V6 engines, two gasoline and two TDI units. Their power output ranges from 150 kW (204 hp) to 220 kW (300 hp). The most popular model is likely to be the new 3.0 TDI with 150 kW (204 hp) that consumes on average just 5.3 liters of fuel per 100 km (44.38 mpg). Audi offers two different transmissions depending on the engines. The vehicle can also be fitted with a stepless automatic transmission that uses the multitronic designation. This sends the power to the front wheels, while those looking for the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system can choose the sporty double-clutch seven-speed S tronic gearbox.
