After the A8 L Sport, Audi has launched yet another new model with an undeserved badge. This time, it's even weirder, as the vehicle in question is the A6 allroad quattro, a high-riding wagon with off-road capabilities.
While we dislike seeing "quattro" and "Sport" together, the equipment being offered makes sense. Standard specification additions include newly designed 10-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels, all-LED headlights, dynamic rear LED turn signals, electrically adjustable front sports seats in upgraded Valcona leather and tinted windows. If we were in the market for a quattro, we wouldn't want to miss out on any of those things.

In Britain, Sport model pricing starts at £49,455 and you can have your pick from three 3.0 TDI engines: 218 PS, 272 PS or 320PS. The bottom two models come with a 7-speed S tronic (twin-clutch) unit while the flagship model packs an 8-speed tiptronic. Which would we get? The bi-turbo flagship that humiliates hot hatchbacks.

Our logic is that if you're going to pay more money for a wagon than you would for the Q7, you might as well have something the SUV doesn't deliver: power and performance. In this Sport configuration, the 3.0 BiTDI 320 PS model costs £55,825. We'll leave it to you guys to decide if it's worth it, but know that without the extra trim, the same model costs £52,125.

Even though it looks like a Skoda Octavia Scout or a Passat Alltrack, the A6 allroad is the king of its castle. Why? Because it's the only one that comes standard with air suspension. In dynamic and comfort modes, this automatically brings the car down by 15mm at speeds above 74 mph (120 km/h). When more ground clearance is needed, the car can be raised by 10mm.

Hill hold assist and hill descent control, which maintain a constant vehicle speed between 5 and 18 mph (25 km/h), are also standard. Of course, the Q7 is slightly better at all these things than the A6 allroad, plus it has the 7-seat configuration, but it's not as fun to drive.
