New Audi A5 Could Be Unveiled this Year

As an Audi fan, I am really puzzled about how exactly they are developing the new A4 and A5. Both are due to be replaced soon, but we have not seen any prototypes testing in Lapland or the Nurburgring. And yet somehow, the only spyshots owe have of the B9 A4 appear to show a car that's practically ready for production.
A report came in from Car & Driver came in today, suggesting the new A5 coupe, based on the same platform as the A4, will be ready to debut later this year and go on sale the next one. If I remember correctly, the A7 was previewed by the "Sportback Concept" a year before its debut. That car was a thinly veiled production vehicle with a larger moonroof, so maybe they're going to do the same this time as well.

Regardless of how Audi is actually testing their new coupe, it is being developed on the MLB Evo platform using more aluminum for an expected weight reduction of 200 lbs (91 kg). There's no shortage of engines and we might ever see a super-frugal plug-in version combining a 2.0-liter TSFI engine and an e-quattro electric motor.

While Mercedes is still working on its C205 Mercedes C-Class while BMW's 4 Series is already on sale. A veritable two-door competition is about to start.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
