We don't know if you've noticed this, but VW has two 2.0 TDI engines, one good and one awesome. The new 150 PS engine is for normal cars and offers great fuel economy, but there's also a performance unit that is already available in the VW Golf GTD and Skoda Octavia vRS while the Leon offers this only on the FR models.
Now though, it's also available on their sister car, the Audi A3 Sportback and 3-door A3. It's rated at exactly the same 184 PS output as on the Golf and Octavia and has a very meaty 380 Nm of torque, which if we're not mistaken is the highest torque output for the A3 range.
The A3 has already been announced for the UK market with OTR prices from £24,375 to £30,055.
Performance wise, the A3 2.0 TDI 184PS with a six-speed manual gets from 0 to 62mph in just 7.3 seconds while the top speed of the car is a very respectable 145 mph.
The new engine already complies with the upcoming Euro6 emissions standards and only puts out a 108 grams per kilometer.
