After yesterday’s leak, Aston Martin was forced to take the wraps off the new Vanquish, most likely before they actually wanted to. But the good news is that for the first time in a while, we’re genuinely excited about a car.
The car looks like an evolution of the DBS in every possible way. Its aluminum chassis is supposed to be 13 percent more rigid than the aforementioned predecessor, while the body is constructed mostly from carbon fiber.

The result is a car thats 55 kg (120 lbs) lighter than the DBS, tipping the scales at a very reasonable 1,739 kg (3,834 lbs).

Don’t think they skimped on the power either, as the 6-liter V12 engine under the bonnet has 565hp (573PS) at 6,750 rpm and a peak torque of 620Nm (457 lb-ft) at 5,500 rpm.

The car will not outpace a Ferrari 458 Italia, this much is clear, but with a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 295km/h (183mph) it still offers respectable performance. However, it’s strange to see that with a 55 hp boost and a significant weight reduction, they’ve only shaped 0.2 seconds.

Aston Martin has switched things up inside, as touch sensitive pads are offered instead of buttons for the center console. What’s more, the Vanquish is available as a 2+0 for you and the misses or 2+2 if you want to take the kids.

If you struggled for legroom in the DBS, the good news is that things have improved with this car, while shoulder room, elbow room and knee room have all been increased. The boot is supposed to be the biggest improvement - 368 liter of capacity, 60 percent more than before.

Aston Martin has said that the Vanquish will be available in the late part of 2012. UK pricing has been set from £189,995, while the US version that will arrive in 2013 starts at $279,995.
