New App Will Allow New Yorkers to E-Hail Cabs!

For those for whom whistling and raising their hand is too much of an old-fashioned way of hailing a cab in New York, there will soon be a new and much more modern way of doing it for those who have a smartphone. It is, of course, a new app, which allows people to E-Hail cabs.

The app is currently undergoing a pilot program testing phase, and if it is deemed successful, it will become widely available. Actual customers will be able to get their hands on the app as of February 15th, and their reviews, the quality of their experience and general interest will determine the future of this service.

Reportedly, twelve cab operators in the US have already agreed to using the new system. However, as always, there are those traditionalists who oppose the new idea, and they do make a compelling argument: will cab drivers stop for people who hail cabs in the traditional way, once the system becomes active?

Mohammad Butt, a 35 year-old cab driver from Staten Island said: “If I accept an e-hail, I won’t stop for a person on the street [ . . . ] But if I have a passenger in the car now, I don’t stop, either.
