Did you really believe the rumors stating that the upcoming Alfa Romeo GTV would simply looks like a a two-door incarnation of the Giulia sedan? Well, in this time when BMW 4 Series is preparing to debut the spiciest look in the history of the 3er-based coupe, you can certainly expect the Italians to work on the aesthetics of their two-door model.
In fact, a tweet that showed up back in March purportedly shows us most of the new-age GTV and this sports the kind of enthusiastic design you've seen on Maseratis.
However, while the idea of a super-stylish coupe falls perfectly in line with the Alfa Romeo philosophy, we need to take that image with a grain of salt.
In fact, I've brought along a set of renderings that portray a Giulia-based two-door. The pixel we have here were put together by independent artist Takashi Ito, who used Autodesk Alias to come up with the eye candy sitting before us.
According to the five-year business plan released last year, the GTV name will return in 2021. And while most of the engine lineup is expected to be shared with the four-door model, the rumors take us down the hybridisation path.
To be more precise, Alfa's Ferrari-designed twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6, which delivers 510 hp on its own, will receive a moderate amount of hybrid assistance, with this resulting in an output of at least 600 hp.
The gas-electric setup also means the coupe will offer AWD and torque vectoring, assets that are required in the battle against the ever-fiercer competition from Germany.
Oh, and do I need to remind you that a Convertible version is expected to make its way into the real world in late 2022?
PS: If you're not sure what the German are cooking for this segment, just take a look at the recent BMW 4 concept.
