It's been a long, long wait for Honda/Acura to bring out the NSX. While we're not getting any younger, the automaker is busy not just with the engineering side of things, but also with the marketing.
Head of Development Ted Klaus is talking the big talk in his latest interview with What Car magazine. He says that when it's ready for mass consumption, the NSX will "have to achieve the type of acceleration that the customer is achieving with the Ferrari."

Without saying which Ferrari he specifically means, we have to assume its the 458 Italia, since it's got a similar mid-engined setup to the NSX. But besides getting their power from roughly the same place, the two cars have basically nothing in common. While the 458 is a rear-wheel drive V8 car, the NSX will have a twin-turbo V6 and a complex hybrid all-wheel drive system.

Its electronics recently gave Honda engineers a lot of problems, as their Nurburgring testing prototype burst into flames on the track, reportedly because of an exploding battery pack that's located right behind the driver.

The old NSX is famous for its Ferrari fighting capabilities. But by the time the new one comes out, there will be a new V8 supercar with its own twin-turbo system, called the 458M. The NSX will go on sale in Britain as a Honda and will arrive in 2016, 80 cars having already been sold.

Klaus also confirmed the model will be priced much lower than a Ferrari and competitive with an Audi R8. Once again, the company official may be speaking too soon, since an all-new Audi R8 is on the way and could be much faster than Honda thinks.
