New Acura ILX Sedan to Be Built in Indiana, Will Start at Under $30,000

It seems that the US market trend for compacts instead of midsize sedans is catching on and every manufacturer is scrambling to come up with a design that meets this criteria and also their corporate image.
Honda’s premium sub-brand Acura also has one coming, the ILX that will debut at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show in January. The automaker has already revealed that it will be assembled in the Honda Manufacturing of Indiana LLC plant, where the Civic is also put together.

"Building this all-new Acura vehicle as the exclusive global source is a big responsibility for our associates," said HMIN President Jun Nishimoto. "I am very proud of what our Indiana team has accomplished in such a short time, and we have great confidence in our ability to produce a world-class luxury vehicle that exceeds the expectations of Acura customers."

Little else is known about the car that will bow in Detroit, but Bloomberg has recently reported on Honda saying that the ILX will be aimed at Gen-Y buyers that are just turning 30. Isn’t that very specific?! What’s more, it was announced at a Vegas briefing that it will start at under $30,000 whein ti goes on sale in the US in spring 2012.

We’re guessing that since the TSX sedan is based on the Accord, this will be a Civic sedan in disguise, but will have to wait until next month to find out.
