Last week Mercedes introduced the 2014 S-Class, spreading its technological weave over the world. As usual, the engine range is limited for the moment, but we’re pretty curious to meet the new S63 AMG.
The big novelty will be the introduction of the Mercedes S63 AMG 4Matic, as the S-Class is set to follow the AMG E-Class and CLS down the four-wheel drive pathway. The S63 AMG is expected to arrive in the course of the following year and will keep the ougoing model’s 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, since this is AMG’s newest high-displacement engine.
At the moment, the engine delivers 544 hp at 5,250 rpm and a peak torque of 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) and while the engineers may tweak the unit a little, its new conception means there are slight chances of notable changes.
AMG has recently refined its styling language, while also using a bit of a bolder approach and we’ll see this on the new S-Class. You can get a pretty good idea of what the vehicle will look like in the adjacent rendering.
