New 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 to Be Auctioned for Charity

Luxury car maker Porsche has teamed up with East Side House Settlement (ESH), an agency providing social services to help youngsters and their families in the South Bronx, to host the 10th Annual Gala Preview of the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob K. Javits Center on April 9.

The pleasant surprise of the event is that, after making its debut in North America, a 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 will go under the hammer, with the proceeds heading to ESH college preparation programs and a state-of-the-art computer technology center for the residents of Mott Haven in the South Bronx.

"All of us in the Porsche organization are extremely proud to partner with East Side House, and I want to personally thank our Porsche Tri-State Dealers for donating this fabulous car," said Detlev von Platen, Porsche Cars North America's President and CEO. "Just as our dealers believe in delivering an exhilarating driving experience and best-in-class service with our high-performance vehicles, they also believe just as passionately in our efforts to give back to the community. In this instance, ESH students will benefit from the very best classroom prep for high school and beyond. Having won more than 28,000 races over the years, you could say that Porsche knows the importance of being well prepared in order to succeed and win."

As a matter of fact, Porsche is among the few sponsors that could help ESH support motivated young students who risk to lose their scholarships and have the computer classes reduced because donations coming from the private sector have diminished due to the global recession.

The money that will be raised at the event will be donated to support programs such as the Mott Haven Village Prep High School, for young people who wish to attend college and a Technology Center, the first facility of its kind in the South Bronx.
