Finished in Red Hot and adorned with matte-black graphics, serial number 52 also comes with a purchase certificate that lists the Racer's Package. That option boils down to the wheelie bar, carbon-fiber hood with a cowl intake, the racing wheels in chrome, a parachute, and an external battery hook-up.

COPO ID 2018COPO-052 is capable of mid-8-second runs on the quarter-mile drag strip. Fitted with a solid rear axle instead of the independent suspension system of the road-going model, the COPO 350 SC also features an NHRA-approved roll cage, racing harnesses, and a thumpin’ great Whipple blower.

The 2.9-liter supercharger system is paired to a 350-cu.in. motor, a 5.7-liter engine based on the LSX family. Good for something in the ballpark of 1,200 horsepower, the engine is connected to a TH400 three-speed automatic.

Developed during a time when General Motors actually made world-class transmission, the Turbo 400 was also used by Rolls-Royce and Ferrari if you can believe it. Turning back to the car, it’s also important to highlight that this is number 52 of only 69 produced according to the vendor.

“This is a raw, powerful, purpose-built Camaro designed to dominate in NHRA Stock Eliminator drag racing.” Considering that it’s made for the blacktop and not for public roads, you’ll need a flatbed or a trailer to experience trap speeds of 160 miles per hour (257 kph) in this purposeful machine.

For the 2018 model year, Chevy also offered two N/A engines. The LT-based 376 small-block V8 and the big-block 427 are the culprits, but let’s face it – the 350 SC is the one you want! After all, the LSX-based engine is built – with pride – by hand in Michigan at the Powertrain Performance and Racing Center where Corvette Racing makes the LT5.

For the 8th generation of the ‘Vette, the LT5 has switched to a flat-plane crankshaft that makes the C8.R sound very different from its predecessor. The road-going LT6 will premiere in the Z06.
