More and more owners of the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ are taking delivery of their go-fast monsters, which means we can get to enjoy fresh spec examples. And a recent example of the sort now sits before us.
The Sant'Agata Bolognese machine we have here comes dress in black, but this is a particular shade, namely Nero Aldebaran. The supercar was spotted while resting in Newport Beach, which means it gets to enjoy plenty of Californian sun.
And while the grey finish of the wheels means this is a restrained spec, we simply can't use this label for a Raging Bull. After all, we are dealing with the current holder of the Nurburgring production car lap record - the Lambo managed to grab the accolade from the Porsche 911 GT2 RS after blitzing the infamous German track in 6:44.97.
As for the future of the Lamborghini supercar, the automaker has made it clear that the successor of the Aventador will be animated by a hybrid powertrain mixing a naturally aspirated V12 and electric power.
And it seems that the solution favored so far involves the V12 animating the rear axle and the electric power serving the front axle.
Lamborghini's Chief Technical Officer, Maurizio Reggiani, recently talked to autocar about the upcoming supercar, mentioning the said tech solution.
“My personal idea is that this is the best concept, to give the best control and management of the chassis,” he said. “It would be easy to have full torque vectoring at the front, to help compensate again for the increase in weight with more agility,” the executive explained.
Of course, the greatest challenge faced by the engineers involves the scale footprint. The electric system will add plenty of weight and while the rest of the car will be put on a diet, it's likely that the overall weight will still be greater than that of the Aventador.
