The latest project that has drawn our attention in terms of daily commuting comes from Daniel Munnick and shows how can a three-wheeler can be an enclosed motorbike and a modular sidecar at the same time. Dubbed NEOS, the vehicle reportedly remains flexible as the sidecar pod can easily be removed.

Now, we know this may sound a bit hard to believe, but the creator of the NEOS seems to have thought of everything, from safety to high-tech features.

Using a carbon fiber body, the NEOS is fitted with the latest 3-phase AC induction motor and lithium battery tech, which gives it a range 260 km (162 miles) on a single charge. Capable of transporting two people at the same time. the NEOS also boasts a rotating polycarbonate driver canopy that can also be detached.

"Ideal for a work commute or a weekend trip up twisty roads, the NEOS remains flexible as the sidecar pod can easily be removed. Using the latest 3-phase AC induction motor and lithium battery tech, the NEOS provides power while being economical and green," the description on Yanko Design reads.

While inside the vehicle you can play with a GPS, touch-screen display, side view cameras, docks to connect your cellphone, a color touch screen display with automatic mobile phone sync, radio and MP3 capabilities, and joystick controls. The NEOS also features vehicle detection senses, reverse and side mirror cameras, led lock and un-lock indicator.

As we said earlier, NEOS is not short on safety features, as it includes:
  • a complete lightweight aluminum roll-cage / safety cell for driver
  • a fully enclosed shell for both driver and sidecar occupant
  • side curtain airbags and driver front airbag
  • side curtain airbags for sidecar pod
  • ABS
  • ESC
  • traction control
  • leather pads for knee and elbow comfort
