One of the big disadvantages of trying hard to get a good score/impressive run in Need for Speed is the fact that there are always a lot of pessimists who say that NFS is just a game and that you’ll never achieve that in real life.
Well, from now on, they can swallow their words, as Need for Speed will be brought closer to the real racing world: Electronic Arts, the developer of the series, announced that it is debuting an entertainment program that will see top street, drift, GT racing, time attack cars and drivers join forces in order to promote the NFS franchise.
The collective of important racing figures will advertise the Need For Speed brands during a multiple events, competitions and films.
Team Need for Speed consists of a group of drivers defined by their passion for automobiles and racing skill: Vaughn Gittin Jr. (Drift/USA), Matt Powers (Drift/USA), Edward Sandstrom (GT Racing/Europe), Patrick Soderlund (GT Racing/Europe) and Mad Mike Whiddett (Drift/USA, New Zealand, Japan). More drivers will join the special project in the future.
The “virtual-actual reality” program also includes a 12-episode film series describing the Team Need for Speed drivers and their cars.
“Team Need for Speed launches an aggressive initiative designed to bring the core brand values of Need for Speed into the real world. By partnering with these tastemakers and by creating these specific programs, Need for Speed goes beyond the game into the real world of automotive lifestyle culture.” said Keith Munro, VP of Marketing for Electronic Arts.
