NBA Star Gordon Hayward Drives a Tesla Model S

Utah Jazz’ shooting guard Gordon Daniel Hayward is one of the sportsmen who cares for the environment, as reports are he recently bought a Tesla Model S. No big news, considering more and more celebrities out there buy Elon Musk’s popular EV. What is pretty off the hook is the reason the basketball star chose the car for.

Hayward has been working hard to make it big and he always had his parents guarding every move. While the younger Hayward was dividing his time between his final examinations and physical preparation, his father created a highly detailed two-page questionnaire that he gave to prospective agents. Mark Bartelstein, who survived his father’s grilling and became Gordon’s agent, would later say “It was the most incredibly thorough process I’ve been through in 25 years. His parents didn’t want to leave any stone unturned.”

Years have past, and Hayward built up quite the career. This January, he set a new career-high of 37 points in a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. This July the young MLB star received a four-year, $63 million offer sheet from the Charlotte Hornets, but Jazz matched the offer sheet and resigned Hayward.

All this considered, it’s no wonder he lives out a careful and calculated life. In a Sic Dunk questionnaire the 24-year basketball said he chose for the Tesla Model S because “it’s the number one rated car on consumer reports ever.”

Gordon even knows what the best hours for charging the car are: “I got a Tesla. P85 Model S Tesla. It’s the most fun thing I’ve ever driven. ... It was difficult [to purchase it]. It’s a practical thing. ... You can pay less money if you charge it at 4 am and 5 am.”
