Navistar MaxxForce V8 to Power Allegro Breeze RV

American engine manufacturer Navistar Engine Group announced today the signing of a multi-year agreement with RV manufacturer Tiffin Motorhomes, a deal which, for the time being, calls for the new MaxxForce V8 engine to be used in the upcoming Allegro Breeze RV.

“We’re always looking for new ways to offer more value to our customers, and we’ve done it again with this new high-end, smaller coach,” said Bob Tiffin, CEO of family-owned Tiffin. “The Allegro Breeze is wonderfully maneuverable, easy to park and fun to drive thanks to one of the most powerful, durable and fuel-efficient engines on the market.”

The MaxxForce V8 will be shipped to Tiffin in the form of the 6.4l MaxxForce 7, which develops 215 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. torque. The unit will be rear-mounted on the RV's PowerGlide chassis, designed on a coach-ready platform. The Allegro Breeze itself is a 28 feet long RV, with a GVWR of 21,500 lbs.

“MaxxForce engines fit perfectly with Tiffin’s reputation of providing high value and low cost of ownership, while introducing innovative products,” said Eric Tech, president, Navistar Engine Group. “We’re proud to add another industry leader of U.S.-built motorhomes to our list of partners.”

The new RV, introduced last November, will begin arriving at dealerships in North America next month. No pricing has been announced yet by the manufacturer.

Separately, Navistar pulled the wraps off its first ever all-electric truck, the eStar, last week, the first in a series of 400 to be delivered by the end of the year to FedEx. The eStar truck, the first medium-duty commercial vehicle to receive EPA and CARB certification as a zero emission vehicles, was purpose-built for electric power.
