In conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the National Corvette Museum, the organization will be officially opening its all-new Motorsports Park. The ceremony kicks off tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. CT, but there is a full weekend of festivities lined up including numerous parade lap and hot lap opportunities, a variety of seminars and roundtables and plenty of other sights and sounds for Corvette lovers to enjoy.
Perhaps the best sight and sound attendees can look forward to during these festivities is the Corvette Racing C7.R racecar that will be on hand putting laps on the freshly laid asphalt. There will be chances to experience the track firsthand as well with GM offering free ride in the passenger seat of a Corvette Stingray and additional opportunities for VIP hot laps, at a cost of $50. GM will also have cars on hand for people to take on test drives – not on the track.

Other cool events planned for the weekend include seminars related to Harley Earl, a discussion about Corvette Racing at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race, a walk around of the 2015 Corvette including a demonstration of the Performance Data Recorder and, of course, there will even be some time to reflect on the infamous NCM sinkhole. The family-friendly event will provide live music, raffles and auction and even a photo op with the Budweiser Clydesdale horses.

Located in Bowling Green, KY directly across the street from both the National Corvette Museum and the production facility for the Chevrolet Corvette, the Motorsports Park is a 3.15-mile track that can be set up in four different configurations. The facility also features a 22-acre autocross track/skid pad/race paddock, a control tower and even a fuel station. Next year, the NCM Motorsports Park is also planning to install garages to make the track experience even better.

To see the full rundown of events, check out the full agenda at the National Corvette Museum’s official website. If you can’t make it, there are also webcams set up at the track, and earlier in the week, a local news station was able to get out on the track for a little sneak peek.
