NASCAR Watching Hamlin-Keselowski War

As you know by now, the recent Phoenix race brought another confrontation between Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski, which started with a minor fender-bender and concluded with Hamlin's No. 20 Toyota getting turned by Keselowski's car.

The incident, not the first between the two, brought the dispute to NASCAR's attention, but no penalties for the two drivers. As Robin Pemberton, NASCAR vice president of competition said, the governing body called the two to order, but did not punish them in any way.

"We talked to Denny and Brad separately. We talked to each of them Saturday and again before Sunday's race," Pemberton was quoted as saying by NASCAR. "It was nothing major. It was just to remind everybody of the bigger picture."

"I think we've really finished all the events from Saturday. There were no penalties from anything that happened out on the race track and no calls from the control tower and we're moving on to our next race," Joe Balash, Nationwide Series director added.

In fact, NASCAR was somehow pleased with the two, as their rivalries are good for the sport. Not even the colorful comments made by Hamlin after the race did not bother Pemberton as much.

"Everybody should enjoy the comments," Pemberton said. "And everybody should remember we're the sport where you can go stick a microphone in someone's face 15 minutes after something either really good happens, or something really bad happens," Pemberton said

"They're still pumped up, their adrenaline is still flowing -- and we get the natural thing when those things happen. That's not bad. Guys have personalities and it's OK to share that."
