NASCAR has announced yesterday that the indefinite suspension of racer Kurt Busch has been lifted. He is eligible to return to racing under indefinite probation subject to additional mandatory requirements. In other words, the winner of the 2004 championship is allowed to participate to future tournaments, but the Association will keep an eye on his behavior considering the recent domestic violence scandal.
Like we previously reported, the racer is facing some pretty serious problems lately after a judge recently ruled he choked and beat a former girlfriend last fall.
After NASCAR decided to suspend him indefinitely, Busch lost his appeal thus missing his last chance to participate at this year’s Daytona 500. Shortly after that, a second hit came as Chevrolet publicly announced they are suspending their relationship with the driver indefinitely.
The sun is finally shining on Busch’s loan since NASCAR has now decided to welcome him back in the game. Nevertheless, the decision does come with some requirements, such as the fact that the racer needs to participate in a treatment program and fully comply with any judicial requirements placed upon him.
According to NASCAR’s statement, Busch was allowed to race again after he complied with all requirements in its reinstatement, completed the mandatory behavioral assessment session and the behavioral health care expert who conducted the sessions recommended to NASCAR that Kurt be allowed to return to competition.
However, the professional driver will undergo additional steps to address the behavior for which he was penalized.
We’ll remind you that this entire scandal started last month, when the 36-year old racer was given a no-contact order by a Dover judge. Busch smashed his ex-girlfriend’s head against his motor home wall in September 26 at Dover International Speedway, according to the conclusions of a Kent County family court commissioner.
