NASCAR Drivers Go to "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"

Europeans often refer to NASCAR driving (or drivers) as being... well, not so smart. Driving around in circles doesn't seems like that bigger deal, when you compare it to the complex, technical and difficult driving of Formula One or some other series using classic circuits. As much as one would argue – for either of the two parties – no conclusion has been or will be reached on the matter.

Regardless of one's racing skills, however, the famous North American racing series decided to test some of their drivers in terms of general knowledge. Or better said, lack of it. As a result, 5 Sprint Cup drivers have been confirmed for the “Are you smarter than a 5th grader?” show on MyNetworkTV.

David Ragan and Michael Waltrip will play the famous game on Tuesday, as confirmed by a press release from NASCAR, while three other drivers – Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin – are expected to be among the contestants during the “NASCAR Week” on October 26th.

For those of you who are not so familiar with the show, one must know that people usually come to it to test their lack of knowledge “as revealed by how much they've forgotten since grammar school”. Each will be given two questions from each grade level from one to 5th and a final bonus question.

Throughout the 10 questions, any contestant may use the help of a 5th grader to answer correctly. However, after wrongly answering a question or deciding to end the game before the “finish line”, the contestant must publicly admit that “he's no smarter than a 5th grader”.

The show is presented by Jeff Foxworthy since late Fabruary 2007, while directed by British television producer Mark Burnett.
