NASCAR Driver Carlos Pardo Dies In Tragic Race Crash!

NASCAR driver Carlos Pardo lost his life during the Mexico Series race at Puebla last weekend. The Mexicon driver was leading the race when, on Lap 97, his car was touched by a competitor on the left rear side and slid sideways onto a wall at the entrance of the pit lane. Only 3 laps were to be ran on the Puebla track to the chequered flag.

The impact, at more than 120 mph, led to the disintegration of his car. However, Pardo did not die at impact, but some 45 minutes later, after he was immediately taken to the nearest hospital by helicopter, as reported by the NASCAR Mexico Web site.

The race organizers declared Pardo post-mortem winner of the Puebla race. Unfortunately, he never got to celebrate his 10th career win in the NASCAR Mexico Series.

Pardo was one of the most appreciated drivers of the aforementioned championship, as he managed to actually win the inaugural series in 2004. He contested in no less than 74 races in the Mexico Series, while also making one Nationwide Series appearance in the 2006 TelCel Motorola 200 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City (where he finished 42nd overall, due to a radiator problem).

“We will remember Carlos Pardo as an outstanding driver, competitor and person. On behalf of the entire NASCAR family, our thoughts and prayers go for Carlos, his family and friends,” said the NASCAR Mexican Series director Chad Little.

Pardo passed away at the age of 33, and is survived by brother Ruben, wife Ana and his baby girl.
