As if we needed any, one of the reasons scientists mention quite often when it comes to space exploration and civil space travel is that it will allow us to truly appreciate the planet. Some environmentalists claim that people don’t know what they’re losing with climate change because they never saw the beauty of it in it’s utmost glory. The first video shot in 4K by the astronauts on the International Space Station may help with that.
Great minds in astrophysics have been repeatedly stating that space travel is not a matter of if, but rather of when. It’s something we can't avoid for millions of reasons. If you want to consider the deploy of natural resources, the lack of space or the amount of pollution that will reach levels too high for sustainable life, it doesn’t really matter. Even if we’d spend our existence on this planet with the most care for nature, we’d still end up with the need for a new home eventually.

Even if the V8 dies, petrol will be left behind, and the entire humankind will switch to EVs, this planet will reach the point when humans will need to populate other planets. But seeing is believing, after all.

The ISS has been surprising us, sending some astonishing clips from above, but this video clearly is a work of art. Here's what they have to say about the new filming tech:

This important new capability will allow researchers to acquire high resolution - high frame rate video to provide new insight into the vast array of experiments taking place every day. It will also bestow the most breathtaking views of Planet Earth and space station activities ever acquired for consumption by those still dreaming of making the trip to outer space.“

To that, we can only tip our hats and say: yes, please!
