As we told you back on April 30, the day when American manufacturer Chrysler filed for bankruptcy, the company's CEO, Robert Nardelli announced his departure as soon as Chrysler emerges from bankruptcy.
The former CEO is now going back to Cerberus Capital Management, where he will act as Chief Executive Officer of Cerberus Operating and Advisory Company (COAC). He will be in charge with the overseeing and supervising the management and operation of Cerberus' investments in different companies.
"Having worked with Bob over the past few years, both at Cerberus and while he was at Chrysler, we are excited to welcome him back to Cerberus," Mark Neporent, COO of Cerberus said in a release. "Bob is one of the world's best operating executives and a proven leader. We are pleased and fortunate that he has agreed to take the lead of our COAC team, and to become a member of the key committees through which we manage our business and our portfolio."
Nardelli entered corporate structure in 1971, when he joined General Electric. In 1988 he left the company and joined the Case Corporation where he led Case Construction Equipment's global business. He returned to GE in 1991 and was ultimately named president and CEO of GE Power Systems.
In December 2000, Nardelli was appointed CEO of the Home Depot, managing to turn the company around by delivering over 20 percent earnings-per-share growth for four consecutive years. Nardelli joined Chrysler in 2007.
During his career, Nardelli received the Distinguished Pennsylvanian Award from Gannon University (1995) and the Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Business and Technology at Western Illinois University (1997 and 1999).
